Gen 2+ features micro-channel plate (MCP) technology. This method enables to generate a much greater light amplification coefficient (about 50 000) comparing to devices from the lower categories. The ejection of electron from photocathode onto micro-channel plate results in a recurring ejection of new electrons in geometric progression, which enhances quality and clearness of the final image.

Armasight Eagle thermal vision goggles are available in variants offering three kinds of image intensifiers: basic SD version, ID version with enhanced resolution, and QS version based on QuickSilver technology, which generates grayscale image. Top quality glass optical components are covered with an anti-reflectve coating, which provides very clear and undistorted image. 3.5× magnification offers the optimal compromise between detection range, details visibility, width of the visual field, and the comfort of observation. Thanks to two independent image intensifiers the device supports stereoscopic vision, which greatly enhances depth perception and and distance assessment. The thermal vision goggles with an illuminator are equipped with a variety of enhancing technologies, such as ABC (Automatic Brightness Control), bright light cut-off (protection against bright light which is harmful for the intensifier), and built-in short-range IR illuminator, which enables observation even in total darkness. Armasight Eagle 3.5× binoculars is also compatible with powerful IR850W and XLR850 illuminator, which makes the device even more effective when it comes to long-range observation (XLR850 with teleconverter provides up to 1300 m range). It is also possible to attach a camera or a camcorder (optional) to the thermal vision goggles, which allows for night vision video recording and picture taking.

The construction of Armasight Eagle thermal vision goggles is very sturdy and extremely resistant to mechanical damage. It is made of aluminium covered with a coating. The device is waterproof and can work in a wide range of temperatures.
