What is saturation?

The saturation is the most important vital parameter, next to body temperature, pulse and blood pressure.

Low saturation (i.e. oxygenation level of the blood) is associated with problems with the respiratory system, for example. The body is then unable to supply itself with enough oxygen. This is also a common symptom of COVID-19 coronavirus infection.

Pulse oximeter - how to read the results?

The norm for SppO2 (saturation determination) is 95% to 100% for a healthy person. For older people, the normal result starts at 93%.

Low saturation levels have their consequences:

• dizziness and headache
• drowsiness
• lowered sense of well-being
• shortness of breath
• coughing
• hypoxia, or oxygen deprivation in the body
