ST-154 RF monitoring system - detection of digital and analog transmitters

ST-154 is a must-have RF monitoring system that enables detection of spying equipment that use analogue transmission such as radio transmissions as well as digital transmission such as WiFi and GSM. The detector features extended functionality with intuitive operation and small size.

ST-154 is a RF monitoring system that works in a wide range of bands and enables e.g. scanning, analysis and identificationof the following types of transmissions:

  • analogue signals with possibility of demodulation of AM and FM signals (headphones not included in the set),
  • cell phone connections in CDMA 450, GSM, 3G and 4G standards,
  • radio transmissions in the range from 25 MHz to 6 GHz,
  • DECT standard operating telephones,
  • WiFi 2.4 and 5 GHz networks,
  • Bluetooth connection.

Key characteristics of the RF monitoring system include signal analysing modern algorithms which enable identification of the signal type and the measurement of the signal strength enables locating and deactivation of a wiretap. Moreover, the detector can perfectly handle:

  • detection of signal jammers in the surrounding,
  • detection of SMS messages,
  • measurement of GSM, 3G and 4G base stations signals.

ST-154 also features a high sensitivity of detection, so the device is able to quickly scan a room with an area of 10 m2 to 50 m2. When a suspect signal is detected, the operator is notified of that by a light indicator and a tone, however is also possible to have the alarm notification sent to the control device via the Internet (Ethernet WLAN). The RF monitoring system is able to save data in the built-in memory allows for a long-lasting monitoring of the radio activity in the observed area. This way it enables detection of devices that work in the „store&forward” mode, including in-car GPS locators and voice recorders that apart from recording data also send short pulses.

The RF monitoring system has an easy-to-read OLED display where transmission rang and signal strengths are shown. Additionally, for a deeper insight, the user can connect the device to a computer using the USB interface. Dedicated software enables to easily manage the ST-154 wiretap detector functions, real-time display of settings, alarms and measurement results.

Operating modes of ST-154 RF monitoring system for analog and digital transmissions

  • automatic mode – for detecting specific signals that exceed the user-predefined thresholds. The detected signals are analysed and updated in real-time and saved in the device memory for further deeper insight. This mode can be automatically activated according to the schedule set in advance.
  • manual mode - for monitoring a signal band defined by the operator. Changes in the signal strength for the selected band are displayed as a graph, which allows the operator to choose one signal that seems especially suspect, in order to determine the alarm threshold. This mode can also display the spectrum of analogue signals in a specified range of frequencies from 60 to 6000 MHz with 2 to 20 MHz spacing. It is also possible to activate the AM/FM audio demodulation function,
  • „search” mode - is applied for locating analogue transmitters. The detector scans the selected frequency band and when the predetermined threshold is exceeded the scanning is stopped. The data typical for the particular signals are displayed in the screen,
  • SMS detection mode – for detecting SMS messages in 2G and 3G networks. The user is informed about the signal strength at the moment of SMS data transmission, its duration, data and time of 3 previously detected SMS messages and the total number of the detected SMS messages,
  • GSM and GPS/ GLONASS jamming detection mode – enables to check for activity of GSP/GPS/GLONASS jammers through simultaneous measuring of the broadband activity in the 900 and 1800 MHz,
  • log view mode – allows the user to analyse the data saved while taking the measurements with the possibility of filtering the type of connection, setting thresholds and sorting the results at the end of the event.

The RF monitoring system can be operated both using the function buttons and the LCD screen. A great convenience is the possibility of remote controlling and receiving alarms to any mobile device with the Windows system. The device has a built-in rechargeable battery which allows for 4 hours of continuous operation but it can also be connected to a constant power supply and this way have no time limits of operation.
